LAND’S END TO ZENNOR – DAY 1

Land’s End to John O’Groats is a journey which connects Great Britain’s south-west tip in Cornwall to Scotland’s northeastern most town. By road the trip is about 1400km, but this particular stroll was closer to the 1700km mark. In England it incorporated significant stretches of the South West Coast Path, the Offa’s Dyke Path, the Sandstone Trail and the Cumbria Way. North of the border it traversed part of the Southern Upland Way, the West Highland Way, Great Glen Way and finally the John O’Groats Trail. This two-and-a-half-month walk needed three pairs of boots, and left in its wake two slashed sleeping mats, a pair of dodgy knees, countless blisters and numerous other niggling injuries. But every single step was worth it.
